Night Training Suspended

Justyn's night training has been temporarily suspended as he was down with flu recently. Sigh ... he has been having the running nose and his voice sounded a little hoarse too. But he is recovering.

However the past 2 nights have been our greatest nightmares yet! Justyn will wake up in the middle of the night and screamed his lungs out! Chong and I are at our wits end also cos we do not know what he wants.

Hungry? No. Nightmare? No. Just want to be carried? No. Teething? We really don't know.

It is really trial and error ... the heartache of every parent: Unable to discern the cries of our baby. But yesterday night, we suspect that Justyn may be having a tummy ache. His bowels have not been regular for the past 2 days. So it could be constipation discomfort that he is experiencing. Well, we fed him banana and a little payaya today. So our prayer is that he will clear his bowels today and sleep happily tonight!

I must say it is really not easy to be a parent! But it sure is rewarding when you see your little one smile at the end of it all.

Crocs

Justyn's crocs is bought by a few of the staff (P. Tan, Jacq, Robin, Ting, P.Zhuang & Audrey) when they came to visit Justyn during my one month confinement period. And finally he is able to put them on. Now I am waiting for the day he can walk in them by himself. Time really flies!

Justyn's first swim

We finally brought Justyn to the pool at the Mandarin Oriental. It was his first time in a pool and he simply loves the water!

Justyn in KL

I brought Justyn to KL last Sun to spend time with my husband. He was in KL looking after Dr. JA. I was initially a little apprehensive as this is my first time traveling on a plane with Justyn without my husband. But thank God everything went well, much thanks to Audrey and Huimin who went along with us.

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental and it was a very good and comfortable hotel!

You can tell by the smile on Justyn's face ... so happy and contented! I feasted on my favourite Sakura and Madam Kwan. Yum yum! It was so delicious! It was a good break!

Night Training Day 2

Yesterday night was much easier than the first night. Justyn woke up at 2.50 a.m. As usual, I fed him his milk. But unlike the first night, I was able to put him down back to sleep without much struggle. Then he woke up again at 5 a.m. Usually I will feed him his milk again but last night, I tried to put him back to sleep without giving him his usual feed. And it was a SUCCESS!

I am praying that tonight will yet be another successful night of training for Justyn. I am slowly trying to wean him off from his night feed and praying for the miracle night when Justyn will sleep through the entire night!

Night Training Day 1

Yesterday night was the beginning of the "night training" for Justyn. He has been waking up every night for the past 10 months. At 2 plus a.m. and at 5 plus a.m. Finally I decided to harden my heart yesterday and let him cry and NOT pick him up.

So when Justyn woke up at 230 a.m. crying again, I fed him milk and put him down on his mattress to sleep. He kept crying and throwing tantrums. But I just allowed him to cry and refused to pick him up! But man, it was not easy ... heart wrenching ... but I told myself if I dun start training Justyn to fall back to sleep on his own, I will have to keep waking up and rock him to sleep.

As this was the first night of training, I let him cry for 30 mins, picked him up and comforted him for a while and put him back down again. The moment I picked him up, he stopped crying. And the moment I put him down, he started screaming again. (Kids nowadays are very smart!!!) This whole process went on for 2 hours before Justyn finally gave up crying and slept!

My prayer for the past 10 months was: Oh God! When will this every end???

But of cuz, putting this aspect aside, Justyn has been the joy of both Chong and I. Once this sleeping pattern can be resolved, things will look brighter for us again! I bet I am not alone in this battle ...
